How do I open a file?
Three ways: open the Files app and tap any Markdown or text file; in another app, tap Share → Open in Dawn; or use the file picker on Dawn's home screen.
Which file types are supported?
.md, .markdown, .mdown, .mkd, .mkdn, .mdtext, and plain .txt. Dawn renders full CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown, including tables, task lists, code blocks, LaTeX math, and Mermaid diagrams.
Does Dawn change my files?
No. Dawn is a reader, not an editor. Your files are opened read-only and are never modified.
Is my data private?
Yes. Dawn has no account and no tracking, and nothing you read leaves your device. See the privacy policy for details.
How do I share a passage?
Select text in a document, then use the share bar to export it as plain text, as Markdown, or as a styled image card.
Does Dawn work offline?
Yes — documents render entirely on your device. A connection is only needed if a document loads an image hosted on the web.
