Privacy Policy

Dawn is a Markdown reader for iPhone. It does not collect any data about you. Everything you open stays on your device, and nothing you read is sent to us or to anyone else.
What we collect
Nothing. Dawn has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising. We have no servers that receive your information because there is nothing to receive.
What stays on your device
To do its job, Dawn keeps a few things in local app storage on your iPhone:
- A list of your recently opened files, and the bookmarks needed to reopen them.
- Folders you have added, stored as secure references provided by iOS.
- Your reading preferences — font size, line spacing, serif/sans choice, and theme.
This information never leaves your device. Deleting the app removes it.
Network access
Dawn renders your documents entirely on-device. It connects to the network only in response to your own actions:
- If a document you open references a remote image, your device requests that image directly from wherever it is hosted, exactly as a web browser would. Dawn does not log or relay these requests.
- If you tap a link inside a document, it opens in Safari — Dawn has no built-in browser.
- If you share a web link to Dawn from another app, that link is handed to Dawn by iOS so you can view it.
Photos
When you choose to save a share card as an image, Dawn asks for permission to add that one image to your photo library. This is a write-only action — Dawn never reads, browses, or uploads your photos.
Third parties
Dawn contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The libraries used to render math, code, and diagrams (KaTeX, highlight.js, and Mermaid) are open source and bundled inside the app; they run locally and send nothing anywhere.
Children
Dawn contains no objectionable content and collects no data, so it is suitable for users of all ages.
